Pet Portraits

Pets are an important part of many people’s lives. Sixty percent of US households have at least one pet, while only 30% have children living with them! Our companion animals are a source of entertainment and unconditional love. At , we recognize the special bond that people have with their pets and commemorate that with our Pet Portrait sessions.

Pet Portrait sessions are similar to regular Portrait sessions. Sessions may be of the pet alone, or may include other family members. All Pet Portrait sessions are on location, either at the family’s home or at a nearby park or other favorite outdoor site. When possible, the photographer will meet with you and your pet prior to the session just to get acquainted. It’s helpful if you have some of your pet’s favorite treats available for the photographer to feed to your pet at that time. For the session itself, treats and a favorite toy will help in producing a memorable portrait. If people will be included in the session, please review Preparing for Your Portrait Session.

Pet Memorial Portraits

The loss of a pet may be felt as deeply as the loss of a human loved one. We will photograph an ailing pet before it passes on, or we can make a memorial portrait using old photographs. Sessions with sick animals are kept short so that the pet is not overly stressed.

This image was taken of a very ill cat, who was hiding under a bed on her cushion. She passed away a few months later. The owner did not have any other photographs of this beloved pet, and was greatly comforted by this Pet Memorial Portrait.

When this man died unexpectedly, the family dog ran away and never returned. There were no photographs of the two of them together. Extensive digital artwork was done using two existing photographs to create this double Memorial Portrait for the family.
